Funny Guy

Noah has developed such a funny sense of humor. He loves jokes, puns, and rhymes, but sometimes what he thinks is funny leaves Seth and I just scratching our heads while Noah's cracking himself up.

His latest comedy routine did strike Seth and I just as hilarious as Noah thought it was.

Noah: "What do you say to a chicken who's talking on the phone?"
Me: "I don't know, what?"
Noah (yelling): "Get off the phone, Chicken!!"

And another-

Noah: "What did the chicken say to the horse?"
Seth: "I don't know."
Noah: "Why is your name Horse, Horse?"

And then he laughs hysterically at himself.

Some of his favorite sayings are "goodness gracious, late cretacious period!" and "goodness golly, hot tamale"

I wonder what the other four year old at preschool think of him sometimes.

I want my babies back.... I want my babies back

No, I don't mean Chili's baby back ribs- I mean my children who are growing up WAY too fast.

I had written in an earlier post that Ella had been calling me momma or ma. Now it's just "mom". I want her to call me mommy, not mom. She's not even 2 yet and she already is acting like a teenager. I say "Ella, for the 16 billionth time, I need you to get off the table", and she shakes her head and says "mm-mmmm, no, Mom". Sassy pants.

And Noah and I are planning his 5th birthday party (FIVE!!!) and signing up for Kindergarten Round Up. It's all too much for me to bear. Noah was watching the Discovery Channel with Seth and a show came on that had a warning about the content being unsuitable for some viewers so we turned it off and Seth tried to turn on the Backyardigans or Franklin, or some other show that was perfectly acceptable a week ago. We were informed that Noah does not want to watch "baby shows" anymore because he is a big kid. He settled instead for some old cartoon on Boomerang- which is part of Cartoon Network. I'm sure that we watched said cartoon when we were little and thought nothing of it, but I watched, horrified, as a group of animals sat in a saloon drinking and smoking watching some barely dressed female animal sing and dance, and then begin shooting each other before Droopy Dog came to save the day.
I think we would have been better off with the Discovery Channel.

We Survived

Wow, what a week! Work has been crazy busy for both Seth and I, and we have just had a lot going on in our lives this week. The good news I have to report is that we had Noah's 2nd ice skating lesson tonight and he did awesome!!! He only fell a few times, and they were very controlled, soft falls that were nowhere near his noggin, thank goodness. He had so much control and balance this time, in fact, that other, bigger kids were using Noah as something to hold on to if they were falling or needed to get up. Seth and I were not pleased with that, but the "coach" noticed and told them not to do that anymore. All in all, it was so much more fun to watch and really neat to see how much he'd improved from just one lesson.
Last night I was giving Noah a bath and somehow the topic of pottying came up. I told him that when he is a daddy he will have to change diapers and wipe bottoms, and he said that would be his wife's job. I asked what else his wife would have to do and he said that his wife would do the chores and the housecleaning. I said "Daddies do those things, too" to which he replied "my daddy doesn't". Hmmmmm... Then he said that daddies smell when they run on the treadmill, but mommies smell like soap when they are sweaty. I love him.

It's a Heat Wave!!

It got up to 40 degrees today, and it felt like a heat wave! The weather has been crazy, as everyone knows- so I won't say any more about it, other than we were so excited to get outside today. Seth had to work (tax season has officially begun), but he was home by 2:00 so we took the kiddos to the zoo.
I wanted to go because I just started a photography class. The first assignment involved shooting something colorful outside. I was not feeling very imaginative, so we headed to the butterfly pavillion and Noah and I looked for "colorful" butterflies and Seth chased Ella around and tried to prevent her from falling in water. The butterflies were crazy active today. We all just about got dive bombed more than once. Anyway, I got my assignment completed (this photo is not for my assignment, I was just messing around w/ some editing), the kids got some fresh air and exercise, and we got out of the house! It was a fun day.
Seth and I both woke up feeling horribly sore- our backs hurt, our shoulders hurt, we had headaches. At first I thought I had slept wrong, but then he said he felt the same, and it was so strange that we would both feel that way. I, being the paranoid, overanxious, overdramatic ball of fun that I am of course assumed that we both had meningitis and were going to die. After some consideration, we decided that we must have been so tense watching Noah's skating lessons last night that we consequently feel like we fell off a building. The kiddo who actually DID fall- about 68 trillion times- on ice, mind you- was not sore at all. I wish I could always have the hurt and illness instead of my kids, but unfortunately it doesn't usually work that way.

Do they make bubble wrap in a size 5T??

Noah had his first ice skating lesson tonight. Can I just say that it is inhumane to allow mothers to sit on bleachers and watch their babies fall on the ice- HARD- 37 million times in one hour??? It was awful!! Noah wore his bike helmet- thank goodness- since he didn't have a hockey helmet. He also had on knee pads under his pants and elbow pads, but he always fell backwards- either hard on his bottom, or harder on the back of his head. I was a wreck!! One of the dads watching even noticed Noah's spills and said "that poor kid- good thing he has a helmet".

So what did Noah think of the whole experience?? He LOVED it, of course! He didn't love the falling part, but it was apparently much harder on Seth and I then it was on him. He did start to get the hang of it and by the end was falling much less, and was even doing little turns. We only paid for one session, instead of all 8, because we wanted to make sure he liked it. He likes it! He wants to go back next week. What a trooper!

I don't know if mommy can handle it, though.

Jinxing myself

Seth and I were just talking about how good Noah's been lately. He is polite, funny, pleasant to be around, obedient, sweet to Ella, sleeping well- who IS this kid??? We both know that it's because he's finally healthy for once. PLEASE don't let me jinx myself!! He had infection after infection and bronchitis twice beginning around Thanksgiving, so shortly before Christmas he was put on a double dose of a strong antibiotic, and it seems to have done the trick. Thank Goodness!!!! Usually, the only way we can tell if Noah is getting sick is because he starts acting naughty. It's embarrassing to call the doctor and when asked why I'm making an appointment I say because he's getting a sinus infection and they ask for his symptoms and I say he's misbehaving, but it's so true, and I'm always right. Us mothers do know these things.

Ella's language exploded over the week-end. She all of a sudden started putting multiple words together like "more please mommy", which is actually "mo peace mama" and now likes to say "mm-hmm" in additon to her ever present "yeah", and has really gotten the concept of "no" down as well. In addition to her increase in vocabulary came an exponential increase in attitude. She threw a huge fit the other day as I was trying to put on her super cute new snow boots. I finally asked "what do you want?" and she said "cocks". I said "you want to wear your crocs??" "MMMMMM-HMMMMM". And, she insists on calling me mama, even though she can say mommy. I'm okay with mama, but when she is upset or is wanting something, then she yells "MAAAA" and I feel like we are in "Little House on the Prairie".

I am still super excited about my website, and still super shocked that I was able to do it. Seriously. It was hard. I also got my contact form to work, so if anyone reading this looks at my website- feel free to leave me a note, it's fun to see who visited.

I DID IT!!!

I got my website up and running!! I'm so excited! It was so much WORK!! It took every ounce of every brain cell I had to figure out what the heck I was doing, and once I did, it was very tedious getting all of my photos resized and saved and uploaded, etc.

I'm so pleased with how it came out. I'm still working on getting the contact form to work. I've been unsuccessful so far. I may just take that part off. Anyway, I'd love any feedback anyone has (just don't use the contact form!)
